Amazing Facts about Nepal earthquake

Earthquakes kill approximately 8,000 people each year and have caused an estimated 13 million deaths in the past 4,000 years.Nepal authorities have confirmed over 4000 deaths. Initial search and rescue operations have led to the retrieval of thousands of bodies so far. As these ops move towards remote areas, the death toll is expected to reach 10,000.


India too suffered from the quake beyond boundaries. So far, over 60 deaths have been reported in India alone. Moreover, hundreds in the country were injured during the earthquake. The worst affected state has been Bihar with over 50 deaths.

The earthquake in Nepal was the biggest earthquake in the country in over 80 years. The impact was felt as far as West Bengal and Rajasthan. The region last experienced such a tragedy back in 1934. 


The Indian Air Force has airlifted some 2246 people so far. A total of 5,600 Indians have been rescued from Nepal so far. The IAF has deployed helicopters, aircrafts, and medical teams to speed up relief and rescue operations in the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has donated his one month salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for those affected by the Nepal earthquake.

Sikh committees in Delhi have joined hands to contribute towards relief efforts in Nepal. Two Delhi Sikh committees will be sending 25,000 food packets every day to Nepal.
